Nasio Fontaine

Who will be  the headline act at this year's 6th annual Cable and Wireless Creole in the Park, the biggest daytime event during the independence season for Dominica's Reunion year?

Last year International Reggae Star Nasio Fontaine who hails from the South-Eastern village of Bagatelle, Dominica gave a stunning performance to thousands of fans in the Botanical Gardens.  Nasio literally brought the house down as he was preceded by a thunderstorm of heavenly proportions, but the loyal fans braved the elements and were rewarded with a high quality perfrormance of  the performer's reggae hits. more

In 2007, patrons got the opportunity to view the talents of the islands young and upcoming bands including Kros Vibes, a band primarily comprised of high school students. Esclav, known for their popular hit 'Sorti Daysan' and the MFR band from Portsmouth were all part of the dynamism  brought on by the islands young people at the event. The gospel element featured the powerful voice of young Nicole Christian, a former finalist in the Cable & Wireless Starquest.

The formidable Triple Kay, partners of Cable & Wireless, Impromptu and First Serenade bands also performed last year. The Reggae band Golden Squad out of Grand bay and Caribbean Vybez made their debut while regulars Freddy & Friends, the Sound Masters from Good Hope and the cadence legends Midnight Grooversa also performed. The experienced Swinging Stars Band and the Calypso Connection featuring some of the islands top calypsonians including Calypso and 2007 Soca monarch King Hunter wrapped up day three of the event. Steel pan, Jing Ping and Lapo Kabwit also featured prominently on the line-up.
